7/15/20

 Hello friends,

I hope you have all enjoyed the Beguiled by Beauty series. This week we are back to the lectionary in the ordinal season after Pentecost. Our scripture reading is Romans 8:12-25, and we will be celebrating inclusive relationships with God and each other. Our Threshold moment will include a short video that I took in Malawi with sweet preschool children singing about Jesus.

If you have short (30 seconds to 1 minute) videos that you have taken and would like to share for a threshold moment, please send them to me. I am looking for videos that bring joy.

We will begin a new book study in about two weeks on Tuesday afternoons. This will give time for people to get the book, Engaged Spirituality:Ten Lives of Contemplation and Action by Janet Parachin. The lives include: Howard Thurman, Simone Weil, Elie Wiesel, Marian Wright Edelman, Thich Nhat Hanh, Rigoberta Menchu, Vine Deloria Jr., Joanna Macy, Rabindranath Tagore, and Dorothy Day. Let me know if you are interested in joining this group by Zoom.

I have asked if Mendocino Books can get them. They are checking. Here is a link to find the book on Amazon.

Thank you to everyone who responded to the survey last week about reopening plans. If you would like to take part and did not get the survey in your email, please let me know. Someone can call you for your answers. We are continuing to watch how our county is doing with COVID 19 infection rates. We want to make sure we are well prepared and doing what we can to keep everyone safe, including waiting longer if necessary. Online worship will still be available and recommended as the safest way to worship during the pandemic.

Join us for worship at 10:00 am on Facebook

Social hour happens on Zoom. Contact me for the link or phone number to join us. I hope to see or hear from you there.

Have a good week. Find time to recognize your gratitudes and enjoy some natural beauty. Stay well, my friends.

Shalom,

Pastor Michele

We are still doing vital ministry in our community! Please don’t forget to continue with your pledges/offerings.

Ukiah United Methodist Church work, to support its members and our community, will not stop because of this public health challenge. This is a friendly reminder that UUMC uses Vanco eGiving tools, so you can continue to support our work using:

  1. send a text to 833-912-2388
  2. the Donate or Give Now buttons to the left
  3. the GivePlus Mobile App
  4. or via PayPal: email office@ukiahumc.org

Ukiah United Methodist Church is a strong community. We will weather this together, even if we’re not all in services. We appreciate your giving, and we do important work with members’ generosity. As we alter the way we operate, please consider making a gift via eGiving.

Pastor Michele and Debbie are not in the office but are in contact and working remotely checking for incoming Voice/E-mail.
